Bringing Bohemian Glamour from Decadent Decades Past!
LESLEY SANDRA, BOND STREET, LONDON,
This dreamy, ethereal, Bohemian creation was made early 70’s by Lesley Sandra who had a couture boutique in Bond Street London.
A stunning sheer silk 2 piece. Fully lined dress, embellished with lightweight, geometric pattern lace, edged with cascading lightweight iridescent sequin trim.
The dress has fine spaghetti straps, with embellishment at the top. The skirt, in four panels falls from under the bust cut on the cross so skims softly over the body. Very flattering!
The short bolero loose jacket is embellished on the sleeves and front, giving a beautiful ethereal look as the light sequin trim drips down and shimmers with every movement. This would make a most spectacular Bohemian Wedding Dress, or a Magical Beach Wedding dress. See this video of the dress with movement….
Size: Bust 34″ (the dress has a 14 label but 1970’s sizing was much smaller than today’s sizing I would say this is more like a UK 10)
Condition: 2** There are a couple of small issues at the bottom of the skirt, a mild stain, and a small mark/hole at the lower bottom right front panel & a small hole back left panel. These are not noticeable when worn as the silk skirt has so much fabric it drapes and forms soft folds. The skirt is very long and asymmetrical so if the skirt was to be shortened this would eliminate the marks as they are near the edge (I will send detailed photos on request) Aside from this issue the dress is in beautiful vintage condition.
Lesley Sandra produced high end silk jersey and chiffon day and evening wear for the couture market. Her clothes were stocked by Selfridges and Harvey Nicols and many designer boutiques across the country. Just the type of dress Kate Moss would choose.
